Finally.

This semester has been crazy. I have learned soo much, and I know that taking advanced internet will be extremely beneficial to me. I nervously entered the class expecting it be a challenging because I did not know what to expect! As someone who has learned web design through dreamweaver, to completely change everything I learned and slowly shift myself into a new set of rules I was kind of intimidated. Throughout the semester I have surprised myself so much! Not only was I able to teach myself different things, about modules and how to make the website work but I felt proud when I figured out something and I was able to show someone else. Towards the end of the semester basically I needed to working on getting my site clean. During class I work on modules and trying to figure them out so the cleaning part was the easiest. I just needed to fill in the rest of my information. Visit my site! www.karanear.com

COLORBOX WORKS!

After downloading colorbox I finally got it to work!! Downloading the module was extremely easy, and there were not a lot of extra things that I needed to download, but setting it up was where I had issues. What I did first, was create a content type which was incorrect. I did not need a whole content type to put a colorbox photo on a page. I needed to go into the article and basic page settings and mess with the image options there. That is what I did! I decided to only have the color box show up on articles so i went into the settings and chose the default picture to be used through color box. I was able to choose the thumbnail size and the color box size as well. I was also proud of myself because I was able to show someone in the class how to change the quantity of images per pages, which i figured out by going to structure and editing the article settings.

last week to work!!!!

There is only a week until my senior capstone presentation. This kind of blows my mind, because it feels like the semester JUST started!!! I have been working on my website, which is not due until April 25. I have been doing photoshoots for my blog, and poster board. I have also been blogging (of course). Being a PC user at home, I found out that it is much easier to work in Microsoft Word, and copy and paste over, than it is to work directly out of Wordpress, because I cannot see my mistakes throughout my blogs. So I have been working in Word, and once all 11 blogs are complete I am just going to transfer them over to Wordpress. In my head I compare that to Dreamweaver. Instead of editing color directly on the specific html page, you should edit colors and such on the CSS page. It saves you from mistakes! I am winding down and basically I just need to get everything ready to present and print out some work examples. Monday will come VERY fast...

Colorbox

So Mike and Joel have been talking about this "colorbox" module for awhile in their amazing Indian accents. I figured I would check it out since everyone else seems to have success with it! It was super simple to download because you only need to download that single module, but once I tried setting it up, I had a few problems. When I would place an image in the article, i would configure it and after i checked it a single image simply opened up in a new page. it did not open up in the awesome colorbox, "box". I talked to Ashley and Joel about this, and they had said that you have to put the Colorbox files in a specific folder in order for drupal to read its code. If you do not do this, you are simply putting an image on an article page. I also discovered that you need to go into the article settings and edit the default picture. I changed it to colorbox, so we will see what happens!

Awesome Module!

I found an awesome module on drupal.org! Its called the Fivestar module, and it is a rating system. I feel that this is extremely helpful, if you have a site that would need a something that wold require ratings, than this is a good module for you. This allows you to rate different nodes, and customize how you want your viewer to see the rating system. The only other module needed for this to work, is the Voting API module. It was extremely easy to work, and the directions are easy to understand.

Sooo....the Galleria Module is out.

I was SO excited to find a module that would show my pictures off in a slide show form, but for some reason I cannot get it to work! I edited my article page, and made the Galleria module the default image but nothing happens. If you try and set up a galleria on an article, you can put pictures in and they upload but after you configure the page nothing happens! When you go on the article page, and scroll through the images there are nothing. There is a slide show but nothing shows up but an "x". I hope this is just a developmental issue, because I have tried everything and it will not work!

Galleria Module

Since the purpose of my website, is to be used as a photography portfolio, I have been searching and searching for different image modules! I could not get the gallerie to work, so I just came across the galleria module. This module seems really cool, in that it shows your images in a slide show format. Downloading the module itself was not very hard, but it did have to download a few extra things with it. I was able to set it up through the settings of my article because that is where I wanted the gallery to be. So I hope this one works! I am a little bit skeptical because it is still under development, but maybe I will luck out!
